Abstract: The marine economy of Fujian became a national strategy during the 12^th Five-Year plan.The marine fishery which is represented by mariculture is the most important component of marine economy in Fujian.Insurance can effectively against natural and market risks that restrict the rapid development of mariculture.This paper analyzed the characteristics of mariculture and the loss caused by marine disasters factors in Fujian,reviewed the history of maricultural insurance in Fujian,and compared the traditional maricultural insurance and the index maricultural insurance.Policy suggestions for maricultural insurance in Fujian were proposed,such as speeding up the development of index maricultural insurance,increasing the subsidy from government and consummating the law and regulations of the maricultural insurance.
