Abstract
Algae blooms is one of the great ecological disasters in China, which greatly damages to human health and sustainable development of economy. In this study,we isolated and identified 10 species of the preponderant harmful algae and 2 species green algae in the coastal area of Fujian Province. Then detected the absorption spectrum of photosynthetic pigments(ASP)in the pure cultures by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)technology and conducted cluster analysis.Subsequently,we compared the ASP results of pure cultures with traditional classification. The study indicated that the further identification based on ASP could achieve more accurate classification of different algae, which could be make up the shortcomings of the traditional classification for confronting with the subtle differences of morphology. And it could be an effective supplement to algae morphology classification and molecular-biology taxonomic.
