Present situation, existing problems and development countermeasure on sea cucumber culture industry in Fujian Province

    • Objective With the rapid development of the sea cucumber aquaculture industry, Apostichopus japonicus, as the only species among all sea cucumber varieties that has achieved full artificial large-scale breeding and cultivation, has seen a continuous increase in aquaculture output in recent years. In recent years, with the rise and promotion of the "Northern sea cucumbers cultivated in the South" model, the scale of the sea cucumber aquaculture industry in Fujian has been continuously expanding, and industrial problems have also emerged one after another. This article analyzes the current situation and problems in the development of Fujian's sea cucumber industry and puts forward countermeasures, aiming to provide a reference for the high-quality development of the province's sea cucumber industry.
Analysis  This paper deeply analyzes the current situation and existing problems of Fujian's sea cucumber aquaculture industry in aspects such as the construction of breeding systems, the cultivation of localized large-sized seedlings, the development of offshore aquaculture models, technologies for preventing and controlling aquaculture diseases, research on sea cucumber nutrition and feed, and the construction of standardization systems.
Prospect  In response to the above-mentioned industrial issues, this article puts forward specific countermeasures and suggestions, including vigorously developing the seed industry, increasing investment in breeding research and development, establishing a sound breeding system, and cultivating fine varieties; strengthening the research and promotion of localized large-sized seedling cultivation technologies to improve the self-sufficiency rate of seedlings; actively innovating aquaculture models and exploring ecological, cage, and recirculating aquaculture models; enhancing the prevention and control of aquaculture diseases, establishing a disease monitoring and early warning system, and promoting green prevention and control technologies; conducting research on sea cucumber nutrition and developing high-quality compound feeds; and accelerating the construction of a standardization system and formulating standards and norms for all links.
